Meal Replacement – What Does That Actually Mean?
A product must meet certain criteria if it is advertised with claims such as “replaces a meal” or “suitable for weight loss”:
- Energy content: approx. 200–250 kcal per serving
- Balanced nutrient distribution (protein, fat, carbohydrates)
- Contains defined amounts of vitamins and minerals
Important to know
Designations such as “meal bar” or “liquid meal” are not legally protected. This means:
- Not every product with this designation meets the strict requirements
- Many products are legally considered normal foods
Our Quality Standards
All go-Optimize products comply with the composition and labeling requirements of the currently applicable EU Directive (EU) 2016/1413 as well as all food law requirements.
